Session "Outside-In"

April 30th through May 5th 2011

On May 1st every year, Kreuzberg becomes the very core of street parades and demonstrations.

IMAGO 1:1 is ideally located to capture and portray the events of that day. This series of pictures projects the people who moved through the surrounding area into the IMAGO space. The photo session was a portrait of a place and its life at a particular moment in time.

Diverse groups gathered in Kreuzberg on May 1st and we invited them to take life-sized photos of themselves... whether alone, or in groups of two, three or more people, all in a single picture and without inhibitions. Hippies, punks, Turkish people, autonomists, observers, passers-by, the police in civilian clothes, in conflict de-escalation uniforms, or fully equipped with helmets and shields, and politicians that happened to be around at the time.

The outcome of this session is the subject of the exhibition inaugurated on June 17th in the IMAGO 1:1 artspace.
